Vote Male!

When feminists urge women to vote for female candidates in elections - a practice that has been in vogue for some years now, throughout the Western world - politicians and the media remain strangely silent or murmur their quiet approval. When The Men's Media Network distributed a mailshot calling on men to vote in their own interests, it precipitated a record number of indignant requests to be taken off our mailing list. Bearing in mind that these ex-recipients are supposed to represent the public interest, either through the legislature or the mass media, the hypocrisy of their selective outrage could hardly be more naked.

Text of the MMN "Vote Male!" mailshot:
The Men's Media Network is a nonpartisan, international communications network for people who are interested in advancing men's rights issues. Our subscribers are also members of various men's groups that include the Men's Defense Association, the American Coalition for Fathers and Children, the National Coalition of Free Men, and the National Men's Center in the US; the United Kingdom Men's Movement; the National Organization of Men in Canada; the Condition Masculine Soutien de l'Enfance in France; the Asociacio de Padres de Familias Separados in Spain; the New Zealand Men's Rights Association; and the Men's Rights Agency of Australia.

We would like to remind all of our brothers in the US organizations that this year is an election year. All seats of Congress and many Senatorial seats are up for grabs. We encourage all men to scrutinize the candidates for issues that are of special interest to men. These issues include:

  • Equal treatment for fathers in custody/divorce courts, where there is still a presumption of maternal custody in most states;

  • Equal treatment for men in the justice system in general, where men receive harsher sentences than do females in all categories of crime;

  • Recognizing the female role in domestic violence. All three National Family Violence Surveys have found that females commit domestic violence at a rate equal to that of men.

  • Equal rights for men in traditionally female lines of work such as teaching, nursing, banking, real estate, and staying at home to care for children;

  • Subjecting females to registration in the Selective Service System. Women now have (more than) equal rights; it's time that they also have equal responsibilities;

  • Strengthening the penalties for false accusations of rape and child abuse. The use of such accusations is now a common tactic used by females in divorce/custody cases;

  • Cutting off ALL federal funding from female-only colleges and universities; Energetic prosecution by the EEOC of females who use sex to gain jobs and promotions in the workplace; this very common practice is sexual discrimination by definition;

  • Recognizing that our young boys are being discriminated against in female- dominated schools and that adolescent boys are at a much higher risk than are females for severe emotional problems and suicide; and

  • Eliminating federal funding from feminist-biased media like National Public Radio.
Men, get to know your legislators' stands on these issues! The record of certain Senators and Congresspersons, and the following in particular, in respect of men's issues, and the civil rights of men, is especially dismal. We encourage all men in the US to WORK, CONTRIBUTE MONEY, AND VOTE against these legislators, with the goal of removing them from office at the earliest opportunity.

    Senator Barbara Boxer, D-California
    Senator Diane Feinstein, D-California
