The business formal for an interview is a simple three piece suit: a jacket, a shirt and pants. Accessories to the three piece suit can be a tie, watch and a belt. This might seem like a no brainer, but some men have trouble deciding what to wear. A solid black three piece is the norm and looks sharp when it’s done correctly.
A nice jacket should fit well to a man, it shouldn’t fit too tight as to restrict movement or make unwanted creases and show wrists. It should not be so loose that the sleeves cover the hands and the extra fabric makes unwanted creases. Additionally, a jacket looks best when it’s buttoned over the shirt.
The shirt should be white, but if you want to stand out pick a color to match your eye and hair color. A forest green shirt make green eyes and brown hair stick out. A deep blue shirt makes blue eyes and dark hair stand out. Don’t pick a colored shirt if you don’t know what tie to wear with it, if you have doubts just go with a black and white theme.
Pants are important because you will be walking and sitting at the interview. Don’t plan for a flood and don’t step on your pants. If you can’t find a comfortable medium at the store choose long pants and hem them up right below your ankles. Be sure that your shoes are scuff-mark free and shined to perfection because you will be looked up and down, shoes included.
